Adidas has unveiled a Lionel Messi Argentina shirt ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Months before what could be his final tournament, a new 2006 FIFA World Cup collection celebrates and recreates one of the most iconic kits worn by the Argentine.
This ‘look back’ range features the Argentina adidas 2006 Home Shirt with Messi 19 printing (£90), said to be inspired by the team that played with calm, control and pure class. It’s a replica of the original kit worn during the South American side’s campaign in Germany, which ultimately ended in elimination by the hosts in the quarter-finals.
Despite their early exit, the Argentina adidas 2006 Home Shirt has become an iconic football strip, with the new release featuring the instantly recognisable adidas Teamgeist design. Unveiling the jersey, adidas said: “The Argentina Home Jersey 2006 Messi edition brings back the iconic design worn by Argentina’s finest, featuring Messi’s name and number.
“Crafted for true football enthusiasts, this jersey combines nostalgia with style, making it a must-have piece for fans. This product speaks to all vintage and retro lovers.”
Fans can get the shirt with or without Messi 19 printing at Fanatics. Also in the collection is the dark blue Argentina adidas 2006 Away Shirt (£90), which is said to capture ‘the essence’ of Argentina’s football legacy.

Adidas has launched a recreation of the Argentina 2006 Home Shirt, with fans able to order theirs with Messi 19 printing.
Alongside the home and away jerseys, adidas has also added a pair of jackets to the collection, including the Argentina adidas 2006 Home Track Top (£100). This tracksuit top matches the style of Argentina’s 2006 home kit and is touted as blending heritage with modern comfort.
This item features a loose fit for a more relaxed look, with a full zip and stand-up collar alongside mesh details providing breathability. The same goes for the Argentina adidas 2006 Away Track Top (£100).
As well as Fanatics, the 2006 FIFA World Cup collection is available at the Argentina Official Store and adidas. Football fans have taken to social media to share their first impressions of the Argentina reissue.
Writing on X, one said: “Best Argentinian jersey from adidas. To be honest best adidas jersey from all.”
Another wrote: “Love the kit, the quality is ridiculous.” This fan simply added: “100/10.”
