Former Police Constable Grant Fulker, 32, was convicted by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, January 9, of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault
A ‘despicable’ Met Police officer has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 17 year old boy after luring him to a hotel room with alcohol and Love Island, a court was told.
Ex-PC Grant Fulker from Surrey, who was dismissed from the force in 2024, was convicted by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, January 9, for sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.
Prior to his trial, 32 year old Fulker, formerly part of Specialist Operations, confessed to three counts of misconduct in public office. This related to inappropriate WhatsApp messages sent to two boys while he served as a volunteer police cadet leader for the Met.
According to The Telegraph, on the night of the offences in February 2024, Fulker purchased four bottles of wine and invited a teenager to his hotel room to watch Love Island. The court heard that a drunken Fulker touched the young boy and then tried to touch his penis over his clothes.
Fulker was arrested and charged within the same month after the victim informed his parents.
Commander Pete Stevens expressed his disgust, stating: “The actions of former PC Fulker were despicable, he abused his position of trust as a cadet leader to take advantage of these boys in the most appalling way.
“I am extremely grateful to the boys for coming forward and reporting them so we could launch an immediate investigation. This meant former PC Fulker was swiftly arrested and charged and just a month later dismissed from the Met.
“Our volunteer police cadets do an amazing job and we recently restructured our programme to reduce the number of cadets in the scheme, the age range, and some of the activities involved.
“Since these allegations came to light we have fully inspected all volunteer police cadet units across London to ensure they are operating in line with correct policies and safeguarding practices.”
Former PC Fulker was dismissed in an accelerated misconduct hearing in March 2024 after indicating in court that he intended to plead guilty to misconduct in public office.
He was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to discreditable conduct, and authority, respect and courtesy at the level of gross misconduct.
He was dismissed without notice and placed on the College of Policing’s barred list, banning him from employment with the police, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
Sentencing will take place on Thursday, 27 February.
