Dozens of schools will be closed on Wednesday as snow continues to batter parts of the country.
Many schools in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland closed on Tuesday as the Met Office issued an amber warning for heavy snow along with four yellow weather warnings for a snow and ice. A new snow and ice alert covering much of Scotland is in place throughout Wednesday, while two ice alerts, in force from Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning, cover the rest of the UK and Northern Ireland.
