The body of a woman aged in her 50s has been recovered from the sea at Berry Head in Brixham, Devon, with emergency services having rushed to the scene
A woman’s body has been recovered from the sea at a well-known UK beauty spot.
Devon and Cornwall Police was called at around 1:30pm yesterday to Berry Head in Brixham, Devon, after the discovery of a woman’s body. Emergency services attended the scene, but a woman in her 50s was pronounced dead upon arrival.
A coastguard rescue helicopter was spotted in the area yesterday afternoon. The woman was from the local area and her next of kin have been informed, say police.
Officers added that her death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and that a file will be prepared for HM Coroner, reported DevonLive.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “We were called around 1.30pm on Monday 5 January following the discovery of a woman’s body in the water off Berry Head, Brixham.
“Emergency services attended but sadly, the woman in her 50s and from the local area, was pronounced deceased. Her next of kin has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
