Dean Kennedy’s death is being investigated by Police Scotland who say they are ‘following a positive line of enquiry’

A 38-year-old man understood to be a father has tragically died after being found injured in a city street on Christmas Day.

Dean Kennedy has been named locally as the man who died after he was found wounded in the Woodside area of Glasgow at 11.40pm on December 25.

Emergency crews raced to the scene, and police sealed off Napiershall Street and North Woodside Road, before Dean was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where doctors were unable to save him.

Tributes have poured in for Dean with one friend wrote on Facebook: “Rest easy my good friend taken from our streets but not our hearts. Gutted.”

Another shared emotional words, writing: “RIP Deano mate thoughts are with family,” while another penned: “What a gem of a boy he was honestly. Can’t believe it.” Another added: “His poor family. RIP young chap fly high with your angels,” and another commented: “So sad, what a horrible world we live in. RIP. Poor guy. So sorry for his family and friends.”

Photos taken at the scene show forensic officers dressed in full-body white suits, masks, and gloves, pacing the street which had been sealed off with tape, stopping motorists and pedestrians from entering.

One eyewitness said at the time of the incident: “There’s a big police presence and they have said it’s a serious incident. We live on one of the side streets and weren’t allowed to drive down and park at our flat”.

Another said: “The road is cordoned off with police tape and detectives wearing white hazmat suits are also at the scene.”

Police Scotland says there will be a continued presence in the area while investigations take place. A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 11.40pm on Thursday, 25 December, 2025, we received a report of an injured man in Napiershall Street, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a 38-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officers are following a positive line of enquiry and there will be a continued police presence in the area. Anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.”
