Mini Eggs, Creme Eggs and Maltesers Bunnies are among the store’s offerings
Easter eggs have been spotted on the shelves of a Poundland store, 103 days early. The St Stephens Street branch in Norwich has begun stocking chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies alongside Christmas crackers and reindeer decorations.
Among the early-bird offerings are Mini Eggs, Creme Eggs and Maltesers Bunnies, all part of the discount retailer’s ‘any two for £3’ deal. With Easter Sunday not until April 5 next year – over three months away – many shoppers feel it’s far too premature to be selling chocolate eggs.
Simon Dade, 69, voiced his disapproval and said: “It’s way too early, it’s like selling Christmas trees in spring. I don’t celebrate Easter and I know it’s important to some people, but I don’t understand why they have to be on shelves now.”

Sue Rose, 71, echoed this sentiment, stating: “I think it’s ridiculous and spoils it for children, especially because it makes it less special if they are available this soon. I mean, Christmas hasn’t even gone yet, and it ruins the magic.
“It isn’t like it used to be in the city this time of year and shops doing things like this to get money is part of the problem.” Meanwhile, Frank Holligan, 55, labelled the move as ‘brazen consumerism’, while Michelle Holligan, 52, dismissed it as ‘just silly’.
Michelle added: “It makes you think if they’re going to last until Easter if you buy them now.”
When probed about the premature appearance of Easter eggs, a representative for Poundland said: “Some stores have started to give a sneak peek into what’s coming in 2026, but they are also still stocked full of Christmas goodies too.
“To be honest, it’s never too early for a Creme Egg.”
