Traffic has been stopped and there are major delays after a serious crash on a major motorway.
All vehicles have been held on the northbound carriageway of the M61 between Junctions 6 at Horwich and Junction 8 at Chorley. There is also a lane closure on the southbound carriageway following the collision.
Queues are building across the area, according to Google traffic data.
