Surprisingly, the Aussie legend’s catchy Christmas tune with its YMCA-esque dance is the first ever solo Christmas chart topper for Kylie – whose version of Santa Baby peaked at number 31 in 2021.
37 years after making her Official Chart debut with I Should Be So Lucky, the pop icon has now landed her first-ever UK Christmas Number 1, and it’s a record breaker.
By securing Christmas Number One 2025, Kylie Minogue becomes the first female artist to boast UK Number 1 singles across four different decades – the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2020s.
Following a two-time Christmas Number 1 triumph in 2023 and 2024, WHAM!’s classic Last Christmas comes in as runner-up this time around at number two.
Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You put in a valiant effort but settles at Number 3 for the second year in a row, with its wait for that elusive Christmas Number 1 continuing for another year.
Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company says the Christmas chart rundown remains the race everyone wants to win.

“It has been part of the musical landscape since the late Sixties and early Seventies, when it became clear that if you topped the chart at this time of year, you could sell more seven inch singles and get more coverage than any other time of year,” he says.
“It started with credible acts targeting this market such as Mud, Slade, Wizzard, and since then, the nostalgic glow of becoming the UK’s Christmas Number One has captured the imaginations of dozens of pop stars.
“From Johnny Mathis, Wings and Boney M in the Seventies, right the way through to Spice Girls, Sir Cliff Richard and the X Factor show, it has been one of the biggest prizes in the annual music calendar for four or five decades now – and as big a part of Christmas as turkey and the trimmings.
“And even now, it is the chart all artists want to top. Today there is a new range of artists throwing their hat in the ring, including the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sir Elton John, Tom Grennan, Sam Ryder and Kylie. “
