Tsidi Winion, 20, has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon after Adam Henry, 15, was fatally stabbed in London – he will appear in court tomorrow

A man has been charged with the murder of a teenager who was fatally stabbed in London, police said.

On December 9, police were called at around 1.02pm to reports of a stabbing on Westbourne Road in Islington. Adam Henry, 15, was treated for stab wounds but later died in hospital despite the best efforts of medical teams, the Metropolitan Police said.

Tsidi Winion, from Camden in North West London, was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon on Monday, according to the force. The 20-year-old was remanded in custody and will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 16.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement this evening: “Detectives investigating the murder of a teenager in Islington have charged a man. Police were called at around 13:02hrs on Tuesday, 9 December to reports of a stabbing on Westbourne Road, Islington.

“Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. Fifteen-year-old Adam John Henry was treated for stab wounds but, despite the best efforts of medical teams, he sadly died later in hospital. His family is being supported by specialist officers.

“Tsidi Winion, 20 (28.08.2005), of Handyside Street, Camden, was charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon on Monday, 15 December. He was remanded in custody and will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 16 December. Detectives continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with Adam’s family at this incredibly difficult time. While a man has now been charged, our investigation continues, and we urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to contact police.”

In a previous statement, Adam’s family described him as a “loving son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend” and said they will “never recover from the loss and not having him in our lives.” They added: “He had many interests and was always there with a smile and cheeky sense of humour. He was good-natured and loyal.”

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation has been asked to call 101 quoting reference CAD 3568/09DEC or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
