The £17million jackpot-winning ticket in Friday’s EuroMillions draw was purchased in Ireland, the country’s National Lottery has said, with just one person landing all the right numbers

A lucky punter has won £17million in Friday’s EuroMillions draw with the jackpot ticket bought in Ireland.

It certainly seems to be a case of the luck of the Irish, as the country’s National Lottery has confirmed that the massive amount was won by a person taking part in Ireland and there has just been one person with the right numbers. It comes after an Irish ticket holder won the biggest ever EuroMillions jackpot earlier this year.

The winning numbers- from tonight were 7, 25, 30, 37, 41 with lucky stars 5 and 11.

Tickets, priced at £2.50, are available to buy until 7.30pm on draw nights. Even if you don’t win the whopping jackpot, there are still hefty prizes if you manage to match one or more numbers. One person is guaranteed to win £1,000,000 with the Millionaire Maker game – everyone with a ticket is automatically entered into this draw.

On Tuesday one lucky winner of the EuroMillions took home a jaw-dropping £125million. A total of seven ticketholders managed to bag the second prize – matching all five main numbers plus one Life Ball. A prize of £372,679 has been split between them, giving them a whopping £74,535.80 each.

The biggest EuroMillions win in history was claimed in June, with one lucky punter in Cork, Ireland bagging a whopping €250million (£215m). A National Lottery spokesperson commented that they’re giving the winner time to “let this life-changing win sink in”.

The biggest ever prize was given out to the 18th Irish person to win the jackpot. Before that the previous person from the emerald isle to win Euromillions was in February 2022, when a person won 30.9 million euro with a quick pick ticket they purchased at a service station in Ballina, Co Tipperary.

According to the National Lottery’s site the EuroMillions Jackpot “is not allowed to exceed €250million”. If the Jackpot for any EuroMillions draw reaches this cap, the jackpot will stay at this amount.

It adds: “Any prize money that would have increased the Jackpot above the level of the Jackpot cap will roll down to the next Prize category in that EuroMillions Draw where there is at least one winner, thereby increasing prizes in that lower Prize category.”
