If you’ve had a pricey Dyson Airwrap on your Christmas list for years, this new supermarket launch will have you queuing outside your local store this weekend

If you have been flirting with the idea of upgrading your hair tools but refuse to part with half your rent for the privilege, Lidl is about to drop a middle aisle surprise that will send anyone who has had a Dyson Airwrap (£399.99) or Shark FlexStyle (£329.99) into a mild frenzy – and we have all the early information for you.

The supermarket is launching its new Premium Multi Air Styler for £49.99, which, given how much its high-end rivals cost, feels a bit like finding a designer handbag at a car boot sale. Landing in stores from Sunday , 14 December (i.e., this weekend!), the gadget looks set for sell-out success and arrives just in time for the Christmas gift-giving season.

So what does it do? As the name suggests, it offers multiple hairstyles with a single tool, thanks to its interchangeable attachments. The tool has three heat settings, three speed settings and a cool shot button, which is essential if you want your curls to last longer than the walk from the bathroom to the front door. Sounding a little…Dyson-y? Oh, but there’s more.

The kit comes with six attachments, including two curling barrels, a half-round brush, a round brush and a hairdryer nozzle, so whether your hair is straight, curly or somewhere in between, the styler promises fast drying and smooth, glossy results thanks to a ‘brushless high-performance’ motor.

In simple terms, it is designed to blow-dry and style without the frazzled feeling that some hotter tools can sometimes leave behind, thanks to its lower temperatures compared to ceramic tools that don’t use airflow.

The beauty tech market has been flooded with expensive multi-tools over the past couple of years, and although they’re brilliant, they are definitely not brilliant for your purse. Lidl stepping into the ring with a budget-friendly contender is excellent news for anyone who wants bouncy curls or a quick, sleek blowout without burning through their savings.

If you’re on the hunt for a present that looks far pricier than it is, or you simply want to check out if airdrying works for your hair (note: even the pricer air-dry tools from the likes of Dyson and Shark don’t work for all), it’s a great way to get involved for less.

As with all middle aisle launches, they aren’t always around for long. If you want one, it might just be worth queuing up outside your local store this weekend. We’ll see you there!
