Pupils at South Wirral High School, in Eastham, Wirral were forced to go into locked down after a 15-year-old boy was threatened with a knife by two males nearby this morning

A school went into lockdown this morning after a boy was threatened with a knife.

South Wirral High School, in Eastham, Wirral was locked down after a 15-year-old boy was reportedly threatened by two males with a bladed weapon on nearby Plymyard Avenue.

Merseyside Police were called at around 8.40am on Tuesday, December 9, and enquiries are ongoing to locate the two suspects, who fled the scene. No one was injured during the incident.

South Wirral High School issued a statement following the incident. It said: “Earlier today we implemented a brief precautionary lockdown due to information relating to individuals in the local community and not on our school site.

“Police have since confirmed that no lockdown is required and school continues as normal. Students and staff remained safe throughout. Please see the email sent to parents/carers and the update now available on our school website for full details.”

The full statement from Merseyside Police read: “We are appealing for information after an incident involving youths outside South Wirral High School earlier this morning.

At around 8.40am today (Tuesday 9 December), it was reported that a 15-year-old boy had been threatened by two other males who reportedly had a bladed weapon on Plymyard Avenue. No one was injured during the incident.

“Emergency services attended the scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate the two suspects, who left the area before officers arrived. If you saw what happened or have any information, you can call 101 or DM @MerpolCC on social media, quoting log number 212 of 9th December.”
