Magistrates sentenced him to 12 weeks in custody

A man has been banned from entering a series of UK shops after he admitted a number of crimes. Christopher Moran, of no fixed address, Lancashire, must stay away from every Tesco, Co-op, Sainsbury’s, B&M, TK Maxx, Booths and Trespass in the country.

He appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft. Magistrates sentenced him to 12 weeks in custody, which will run alongside a separate 52 week prison sentence already being served.

He also received a five-year criminal behaviour order for the spree of thefts, committed across South Ribble and Preston. Under the order, Moran is also barred from areas of Preston Marina, Navigation Way and the entire Penwortham exclusion zone.

He must immediately leave any retail premises if instructed by staff, with officers saying the restrictions aim to disrupt his persistent offending and protect businesses from further harm. A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “CBOs are used to target individuals who are repeat demand generators and have been identified as often engaging in criminality in a specified area.

“They are given to people who have been convicted of an offence with the aim to prevent them engaging in further criminal behaviour.”
