More than half of Brits admit they’re trimming back on treats

Neil Shaw Assistant Editor (Money and Lifestyle)

11:18, 20 Nov 2025

Celebrity hairdresser Nicky Clarke will be offering Budget Day haircuts next week – where customers can leave with a Fiscal Fringe or Balanced Bob. Nicky will be offering trims at the tongue-in-cheek pop-up salon on November 26 in Westminster.

The A-lister stylist is teaming up with Lebara Mobile to provide The Smarter Cuts Salon where people can select from a menu of looks. Customers can also enjoy a dose of financial therapy while getting a trim

The pop-up is taking place as Lebara research found that more than half of Brits admit they’re trimming back on treats such as eating out, takeaways, social outings and birthday and Christmas gift giving.

More than a third admit they’ve never switched mobile providers, even though they know it could save them money. Brits now find their mobile bills equally confusing as Budget speeches, with just 6% saying big mobile networks are transparent and fair. 85% of those quizzed said they’d managed to save between £5-£40 a month switching from a big provider.

Nicky Clarke said: “As someone who’s spent a lifetime crafting a range of high-end hairstyles, I believe you should never have to compromise to feel and look your best.”

The Smarter Cut Salon will be open to both bookings and walk-ins from 10am until 8pm on November 26 at St James Park Tube, 55 Broadway, London SW1A 2BD.

You can book your ‘Smarter Cut’ for £5, by visiting https://lebarasmartercuts.com/
