The William Hill customer landed the windfall on races at Cheltenham, Doncaster and Newbury despite only one of the six horses in the bet becoming a winner
A punter has turned £10 into nearly £50,000 from a six horse accumulator which featured just one winner. The William Hill customer collected £47,351.56 after picking horses to place in an each-way sixfold for a total stake of £10. The bet featured selections from Saturday’s meetings at Cheltenham, Doncaster and Newbury.
What was unusual about this windfall win was that the six horse selection comprised only one that was first-past-the-post. The bet kicked off with Great Fleet finishing second in a novices’ hurdle at Cheltenham, having been backed at 25-1, Hoe Joly Smoke was third in a handicap chase in the next race at the track at 12-1.

Then at Doncaster 16/1 chance Figjam ran second in a Listed race. The fourth leg was back at Cheltenham where Supremely West (18-1) took third in a handicap hurdle before Arabian Desert finished runner-up in the Horris Hill Stakes, back on the Flat at Newbury (16/1).
It all came down to Hamish in the St Simon Stakes and the nine-year-old veteran emerged victorious winning for the punter at odds of 11-2. The final winning sum was dramatically improvised by receiving Best Odds Guaranteed on two of the selections
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “We enjoyed a fantastic weekend at the William Hill Showcase and William Hill Futurity Trophy meetings, but waking up to this bet has somewhat taken the shine off it! However, we can’t hide our admiration for this punter’s work.
“To turn a £5 each-way sixfold into nearly £50,000 is sensational work, especially so given the bet featured just one winner. It once again goes to show the value of Best Odds Guaranteed for punters. However, let’s not take anything away from this feat, as this bettor has pulled off an extraordinary bet here, so we take our hats off to them!”
