Our head of beauty says she’s found a hero in one of L’Oréal Professionnel’s shampoos – and it’s currently on sale
Despite being an insider in the beauty industry, my hair often appears flat, dull and slightly oily for most of the week. I have long hair, which makes the process of washing and drying quite a lengthy one. Moreover, my roots tend to become greasy just hours after washing, while my ends remain dry and lacklustre. This led me to wash my hair daily and amass a growing collection of dry shampoos.
However, everything took a turn when I stumbled upon L’Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Sulphate Free Shampoo, currently retailing for £34.53 instead of £50 as part of a bundle deal with the matching mask. I didn’t have high hopes, considering how flat other shampoos have fallen on their promises, but my colourist suggested it after hearing about my hair troubles.
She explained that it neutralises metal accumulation in your hair from hard water and pollution, something I hadn’t thought about before. Apparently, this build-up can make your hair oilier, duller and more challenging to manage over time. Despite my doubts, I decided to give it a whirl – and I’m so happy I did.

From the first wash with this shampoo, my hair felt lighter, fresher and genuinely cleaner without feeling stripped or dry. The real magic? I can now go up to three days without washing my hair. That’s right – three full days of soft, shiny, grease-free hair. I pair it with the matching hair mask, which makes my ends so soft and easy to comb, so I’d really recommend picking the two up as a bundle now they’re in the Amazon Prime Big Deals sale.
Since I started using this shampoo, my hair feels entirely transformed. I no longer dread washing it, and the extra time between washes has completely changed my routine. Granted, it’s a bit of an investment at its full price of £27 for a bottle, but a little goes a long way, and the results are self-evident.
Also, you don’t need to use this every time you wash. My hairstylist advised me that once a week is enough to maintain its effects, so on my other wash days I alternate between using Kérastase Specifique Bain Divalent Shampoo, £28.25 (also worth the money, I promise) and Philip Kingsley Moisture Balancing Shampoo, now £16.80 in the sale.
If you’ve been struggling with oily hair and are ready to finally take control, give the L’Oréal Professionnel Series Expert Metal Detox Shampoo a go. I can honestly say it’s been the one product that’s made me feel confident about my hair again.
