Motorists this morning face severe delays with a major motorway closed in both directions which may also affect travellers to Gatwick Airport.
The M23 has been shut southbound and northbound between Junction 8 for Redhill – which is also its junction with the M25 – and Junction 9 for Gatwick Airport.
National Highways says that Surrey Police are leading the operation. The AA’s traffic monitoring system says it was first reported at 5.30am.
