The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the north-west of England, with wet and windy conditions expected to reach Manchester late on Friday and remain in place well into Saturday and Sunday
Oasis fans attending the band’s final two gigs at Heaton Park this weekend are being warned to prepare for heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for the north-west of England, predicting that wet and windy conditions will hit Manchester late on Friday and persist throughout Saturday and Sunday.
According to the latest forecast from the UK’s national weather service, torrential, thundery showers could bring 20-30 mm of rainfall in less than an hour in many areas, with some places potentially seeing 60-90 mm in less than three hours.
While the rain is expected to ease off in some parts by early Saturday afternoon, further thunderstorms are likely to follow. In addition to heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, gusty winds and large hailstones are also anticipated.

These severe conditions could cause disruptions to transport and travel, so those planning to see the Gallagher brothers perform are advised to bear this in mind when planning their journey.
Flash floods are also a possibility in some areas, and power cuts could occur as a result of the storm. Residents are being urged to take steps to protect their properties and themselves from harm.
Before the arrival of gusty winds, it’s recommended to secure any movable objects or temporary structures. The thunderstorm and lightning are expected to kick in at around 10 am on Saturday morning, lasting until 7pm, just an hour and 15 minutes before Liam and Noel Gallagher walk onto the stage.
But once the lightning stops, it’s expected to continue raining through til 9pm. Meanwhile, Sunday is a similar picture, with the storm lasting until 7pm.
One fan said on social media: “Having a footwear dilemma for Saturday due to potential rain.” Another said: “It’s looking like I might have to rethink my whole outfit,” while sharing a screenshot of the weather forecast. But most fans appeared to be embracing the forecast, with one saying: “The rain will be the least of our worries on Saturday as we’ll probably be covered in much worse.”
“18 degrees man, you’ll fine. Partying in the rain is something else,” said a second. “Hope the rain stays off, but either way you’ll love it,” commented a third.
So far, Oasis fans have been fortunate with sunny weather and high temperatures for the band’s much-anticipated homecoming shows.
The entire country was experiencing the third heatwave of 2025 when the first of five concerts kicked off last Friday. Temperatures soared to the low thirties as 80,000 fans packed into the open space just outside of Manchester city centre.
One individual who seemed unfazed by the scorching heat was none other than Liam. The 52-year-old swaggered onto the stage on the first night, donning his signature green parka, which he kept on throughout his performance despite the mercury soaring above 30C.
Fans were left wondering how he managed to keep cool, with a few suggesting that he might have had an electric neck fan concealed under his coat. However, his older brother Noel dressed more appropriately for the concerts, wearing a t-shirt and jeans throughout the show.
