Lidl fans can bag their favourite products from the middle aisle up two weeks before it drops in stores, but accessing this service has a host of set requirements
Lidl’s middle aisle won’t be so exclusive and time-critical anymore, thanks to a new click and collect service that’s been rolled out.
The trial service was launched on April 3 for the first time, allowing shoppers the chance to reserve items up to two weeks in advance, but it’s not readily available to just anyone. It is exclusively available on the app – so if you haven’t downloaded it, you will need to if you want to secure a specific item. Between April 7 to April 13, shoppers will be able to reserve bulky items such as lawnmowers or other household items that are usually stocked in the middle aisle.
The Lidl Plus app now has more than 100 million users globally, offering personalised offers, discounts and coupons, as well as a digital version of the weekly leaflet and a chance to win prizes whenever shopping at the supermarket. Most importantly, it’s free of charge. The new Click, Reserve & Collect trial comes from the success of the Lidl Plus since its launch in 2020, and is expected to be an exciting one.
Along with the usual app features, it’s also set to be home to exclusive discounts – giving shoppers more of an incentive to get it downloaded.

On the Click, Reserve & Collect trial, Jassine Ouali, Chief Customer Officer from Lidl GB, said: “We’re always exploring bold new ways to enhance our customers’ shopping experience and are pleased to be in a position where we can bring this latest trial to life.
“We know how popular our Middle of Lidl deals are, and this trial will give our Lidl Plus customers the chance to secure a must-have item before it hits the shelves,” she added. “We can’t wait to see how our customers respond.” It’s understood the trial is being rolled out nationwide, which means customers can start using the app and this new feature right away. The supermarket giant has not, however, confirmed when or if this trial will end.
