West Mercia Police said the force continues to investigate the crash which happened on Offoxey Road, in Tong, near Shifnal, Shropshire, and involved a silver Audi A1
Three teenagers have died and a fourth has life-changing injuries following a horror car crash along a country lane.
Emergency services were called after a silver Audi A1 crashed on Offoxey Road, in Tong, near Shifnal, Shropshire, at around 11.15pm on Friday. Simon Evans, 18, from Perton, Staffordshire, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics. Jacob Holeman, 17, from Codsall, Staffordshire., was taken to hospital but died from his injuries on Saturday and a third teenager, Jenson Bridges,17, from Brewood, Staffordshire, also lost his life on the weekend, police have now confirmed.
West Mercia Police also confirmed the fourth occupant of the car, a 17-year-old boy, suffered life changing injuries and remains in hospital in a stable condition. The investigation into the smash, which happened on a remote rural road east of Telford, continues and police want to talk to anyone who may have information in connection with it.
It is thought the Audi A1 was travelling alongside red Vauxhall Corsa and a black VW Golf at the time, though these vehicles were not involved in the collision itself.
Inspector Steph Arrowsmith, from West Mercia Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “Sadly, three teenagers have died and one remains in hospital with life-changing injuries in this tragic incident and our thoughts are with all of those who have been affected.
“We continue to carry out enquiries into the collision and I would like to thank everybody who has contacted us so far with information to assist with our investigation.”
The Audi had been travelling from the Codsall area, through Brewood, and westwards along Offoxey Road before the collision, it is understood.
Insp Arrowsmith added: “We are still appealing to anyone else who may have been on Offoxey Road on Friday night to get in contact. We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have been travelling through Bishops Wood and Brewood around 11pm, as we believe the Audi travelled along Port Lane and Kiddemore Green Road ahead of the incident.
“We believe the Audi was travelling together with a red Vauxhall Corsa and a black VW Golf. The vehicles were not involved in the collision in any way, but we’re hoping motorists in the area may remember seeing the three vehicles together.”
Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to contact DC Rich Owen on 07814773916 or email [email protected] quoting incident number 554i of March 14.
