Emergency services were scrambled to the junction of Hollyhedge Road and Greenwood Drive, in Wythenshawe at around 5pm on Sunday, March 9
A man and his dog sadly died after a car landed on them in a horror crash yesterday.
A huge emergency response, including air ambulances and enhanced rescue units, rushed to the junction in Wythenshawe at 5pm yesterday. They found a man who had suffered fatal injuries after he was mowed into by a vehicle. His dog, who he had been walking at the time, was also deceased.
Police arrested a woman, who is in her 40s, at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has been released on bail.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to assist them with their investigations. It is believed the collision took place after the vehicle, a black car, collided with another vehicle at the junction after travelling south on Greenwood Drive.
The vehicle then hit the pedestrian and his dog, sadly causing fatal injuries. Reports from the scene yesterday said the black car ‘flipped over’ and hit the man after crashing into a taxi.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 5pm on Sunday 9 March 2025, we were called to reports that a pedestrian and a dog had been struck by a vehicle at the junction Hollyhedge Road and Greenwood Drive, in Wythenshawe.
