A man has been filmed grabbing a dog by its legs and throwing it in the air on the street in a sickening attack.
An investigation has now been launched by the Scottish SPCA after the horrifying incident happened on Dalton Street in Shettleston, Glasgow, on Saturday, February 8. Jade Harrison, who lives on the street, witnessed the attack unfold from her bedroom window.
The 30-year-old and her mum began filming after becoming concerned by the cowering body language of the dog, which appeared to be an English bull terrier type. In the clip the man can be seen holding onto the dog and patting it heavily.
As the animal tries to walk away he grabs it by the leg and drags it back towards him. Moments later he again grabs the dog, this time picking it up and throwing it up into the air before it lands on the pavement on its back.
At this point Jade and her mum can be heard shouting out the window. Jade said: “I have never witnessed anything like it in my life. I was disgusted and distraught.
“I was watching from my window and I didn’t know my mum was watching from her window and was videoing it. We both had a feeling something was going to happen and kept watching to make sure the dog was okay, then the next minute we witnessed this.”
Jade says she quickly ran out to confront the man before she reported the incident to animal welfare officers at the Scottish SPCA. She added: “I flew out my front door and my mum was screaming out her window as you can hear in the video. The SSPCA were phoned and they came out on Sunday.
“I was in some mess. I couldn’t even get my words out when I was on the phone. I stood face to face with the man and let him know we saw what he did and let him know we had it on video also. I don’t care what’s going to happen next between me and the neighbour as long as I know I have saved a poor innocent dog’s life. I will sleep at night.
“You can see in the video the dog is scared and this is an ongoing thing and isn’t a one off. There was no need for it at all, the dog didn’t even do anything wrong.” The Scottish SPCA told the Daily Record that they had received a report of the incident and an inspector is looking into it.
