‘Very useful way to keep warm but not waste money on heating the whole house’
Dunelm shoppers are raving about a luxury heated throw that keeps them warm without having to switch on the heating. If you’re ever alone in the house and it feels a bit chilly, it can feel like a needless expense to put the heating on in every room.
It’s where the likes of heaters and heated throws have grown in popularity as the cost of energy remains high. They cost less to run than heating the entire property, while providing much-needed warmth and comfort over winter.
And Dunelm’s Dreamland IntelliHeat Velvet Plush Heated Throw has been extremely well-received by the majority of people who have taken the plunge on the £69 throw. It’s said to heat up in a mere five minutes, while boasting six different heat settings to adjust to your liking.

The throw is both washing machine and tumble dryer safe, making it easy to keep nice and fresh, while Dunelm says it costs “from 1p” to run. Reviewers have been full of praise, with it averaging 4.9 stars out of five from more than 40 reviews.
One said: “Bought this for my wife and she loves it, just on those really cold nights it keeps her warm and she often falls asleep.”
Another added: “Superb blanket. Has made a big difference. Excellent alternative to having the heating on in the whole house when working from home.” A third went on: “Very useful way to keep warm but not waste money on heating the whole house. Easy to use and, so far, is quite durable.”
Despite the positive reviews, a small number of buyers weren’t thrilled, including one who said: “It broke after a year, expensive, there are plenty of cheaper alternatives.” It’s worth pointing out that Dunelm replied to this review saying “please remember all our throws have a two year warranty so please get in touch with our customer care team who will be able to help out with this”.
There are cheaper options out there if Dunelm’s is a bit pricey for what you’re looking for. Amazon stocks a variety of heated blankets, including the Mia&Coco, which is a popular choice.
That’s currently on offer taking the price to £36.33, a 19% discount on the usual price. Speaking about that product, one user said: “I’ve owned this for over a month now, and I’ve been using it non-stop since the colder UK weather has arrived, and honestly I couldn’t be happier with this heated blanket!
“It’s soft, cosy, heats up extremely quickly, 10 heat settings, a handy automatic ‘off’ timer, and is more than large enough for two adults to lie under it.”
One of the issues raised in a three star review said: “I don’t usually write comments, but I thought I should warn people that this blanket sheds. I wore black jeans and (a) jumper when I first tried it and was unpleasantly surprised that it left loads of white fluff on them.”
