A Christmas gift set has has been recalled by Boots, after an urgent warning that it should not be used was issued by the Office for Product Safety and Standard over a risk of burns
Boots has issued an urgent recall for a Christmas gift set due to a “risk of burns” for customers.
The Radley Cosy Up mug and sock set is being recalled as the base of the mug could crack and break into pieces when used, potentially causing hot drinks to spill out.
Customers who have purchased the set are advised not to use it and return it to their nearest Boots store as soon as possible. The Cosy Up set, which includes a ceramic mug and a pair of ribbed socks, carries the barcode 5016155273331 on the back and features the Radley dog logo on the front.
The product was made in China and sold between August 30 and December 6 this year. A Boots spokesperson said: “We have been informed of a potential safety issue with the mug in this set. In some instances, the base of the mug is cracking and separating when in use, therefore, this product is being recalled.”
It added that customers who have bought the mug will receive a full refund and warned that if it has been bought as a gift then the recipient should be told. The spokesperson said: “The safety and well-being of our customers is very important to us.
“We’re asking that you stop using the mug and return it to your nearest Boots store at your earliest convenience for a full refund. If you’ve bought this product for someone else, it’s important that you let them know about this as soon as possible.”
The Office for Product Safety and Standard warned that hot liquids could spill from the mug, “presenting a risk of burns”. It stated: “Product: Radley Cosy Up Ribbed Socks and Ceramic Mug Gift Set in Chalk.
“Hazard: The product presents a risk of burns as the base of the ceramic mug can crack and separate whilst in use, resulting in potentially hot contents spilling. Corrective action: The product has been recalled from end users.” It gave the product description: “A ceramic mug in ‘chalk’ supplied with socks as part of a gift set. Packaged in a white and burgundy box. Affected sets were sold between 30th August 2024 and 6th December 2024.”
