Down Detector shows hundreds of people have reported outages on the site this morning, with the vast majority of National Lottery customers noting the app is not working
Britons have been left fuming this morning as the National Lottery app has stopped working, just hours before jackpot numbers are announced.
Reports on status monitoring site Down Detector show that several hundred people have reported not being able to access the lottery app. Anyone attempting to access the site’s main page is greeted by an apologetic message stating that the National Lottery online services are “temporarily unavailable” and asking people to “please bear with us”.
The message reads: “Our online services are temporarily unavailable. Sorry about that – we’ll get you back in the game as soon as possible.” Those attempting to open the app get a message telling them to retool their internet settings and redirecting them to the National Lottery website.
The message reads: “Sorry, our app is unable to load for you. It could be a parental block is set with your Internet Service Provider. This would prevent you from accessing gambling websites and apps. Please update your settings and then reload the app. If this fails, please visit our website to play.”
Maps posted by Down Detector show that the largest number of reports are coming from London this morning, with Manchester close behind. Smaller pockets of reports are popping up across the entire country, showing the significant extent of the site problems.
The outages come following a bumper Wednesday for the lottery, when it released the numbers for a bumper £7.3 million jackpot, and ahead of another draw tonight. The September 18 draw saw Britons scoop a collection of smaller prizes, with no one netting the top jackpot after the organisation released the winning numbers.
They were 07, 20, 33, 50, 51, and 57, and the bonus number was 44. While no players were able to scoop the maximum total, one person won £1 million
They won the prize after matching five out of six numbers and the bonus ball. Two people won smaller prizes, with one netting £350,000 for matching five out of five numbers in the Lotto Hotpicks – which uses the same numbers. Another player won £13,000 by matching four out of five numbers.
No-one won the top £500,000 prize in Wednesday’s Thunderball draw, which is only available for people who can match five numbers and the Thunderball. One Briton won the £5,000 prize for matching five numbers.
