With festivals on the horizon and Cowboy Core fashion well and truly in, every one is wanting a statement jacket that goes hand in hand with the trend…
If your TikTok or social media feed has been anything like ours the last few months, you will have seen that Cowboy Core is back in fashion – and we are totally here for it, especially with festival season on the horizon. With country music having had a bit of a resurgence, what with Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album (which features the queen of country herself Dolly Parton) having recently dropped and Taylor Swift’s Eras tour (and new album) making us race to recreate her looks of years gone by (among many other things), fashion fans are loving the Wild West inspired style.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise that 2024 has seen the Americana fashion plastered all over the high street with fringe, double denim and cowboy boots being shown a lot of love. But one style we continue to see year in year out, especially on the festival circuit, is a detail that falls into both Cowboy core and bohemian styles: fringe.
More specifically the fringe jacket; An iconic garment that can add a whole lot of drama to an otherwise boring outfit with tassels. And lots of them. Now of course, this style of jacket is known and loved for being a symbol of Cowboys in the wild West well over a century ago, where the tassels – or fringe – were added to the jacket for practical reasons: to help protected the edges of the leather they were wearing and to allow the garment to shed rain and dry faster when caught in a shower. Now, it’s a fashion statement but is one that is super versatile and can be worn with trousers, shorts, skirts, dresses, boots, sandals… you name it, fringe can be worn with it.
