After sharing her struggles with perioral dermatitis, Zara McDermott has finally found an SPF that not only protects skin from the sun, but doesn’t flare up sensitive skin conditions
The summer weather is glorious for many reasons, but one thing it doesn’t help is skin issues. If you suffer with things like eczema or dermatitis, then the inevitable combination of heat, sweat and suncream can all make them flare up.
This is especially tricky if your problem areas include your face, as SPF is the one skincare product we’re meant to wear every single day, particularly in the summer. However, Zara McDermott – who has always spoken openly about her struggles with perioral dermatitis – has found one SPF that she says won’t inflame it.
Elizabeth Arden eye cream that ‘gets rid of dark circles’ and makes eyes ‘look younger’ is now £17
Medicube’s Booster Pro x2 made my skin glow in under 20 minutes and it’s almost £40 off
Perioral dermatitis is a skin condition which causes small, red bumps to flare up around the mouth and nose, as well as causing a burning and itching sensation, and it can be triggered or made worse by things like heavy moisturisers and thick SPFs. Luckily for those with similar struggles, Zara said the CeraVe Invisible Hydrating Fluid Sunscreen SPF 50 is “My favourite SPF that actually works for my skin that doesn’t inflame my dermatitis.”
The CeraVe SPF is already an affordable buy at £17.90, but has been reduced to £14.32 at Cult Beauty (at the time of writing). The CeraVe suncream was developed by dermatologists to be gentle but still effective, and focuses on combining sun protection with skin-nourishing ingredients.
It’s suitable for every skin type, whether you’ve got dry and sensitive skin or an oily and blemish prone complexion. The CeraVe Invisible Hydrating Fluid Sunscreen creates a long-lasting shield on your skin which is invisible, and actively hydrates your skin while both protecting it and giving it a natural-looking glow.
There are some other great SPF options around if you struggle with sensitive skin, such as Ultra Violette’s Clean Screen Sensitive Skinscreen SPF 30 which is now £25.60 down from £32 at Space NK. Some more budget-friendly options also include E45 Sensitive Sun Face Cream SPF50+ for Dry & Sensitive Skin which is just £12.99 for a large 50ml tube, or La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid Non-Perfumed Suncream, which offers SPF50+ and is now £15.75 down from £21.
However Zara’s CeraVe Invisible Hydrating Fluid Sunscreen currently has exclusively five star ratings from shoppers at Cult Beauty, with one reviewer writing: “Great product. Works well with makeup and has a cute packaging.”
Another said: “Love the brand and this new sunscreen. It protects my skin and layers nicely with my skincare and makeup. Love the packaging, too!”
A third added: “Brilliant hydrating suncream and leaves no white cast. Leaves skin dewy.”
With a fourth person saying: “Good SPF protection and absorption happy with this product!!!”
