The shocking images of young people sitting on the outside of a moving tram were taken on Friday afternoon and hared to a social media group

Shocking images showing two teens playing daredevil as they risk their lives by riding on the outside of a tram have sparked outrage and fear for their safety.

Captured in Manchester on Friday, the young lads appeared to be nonchalantly perched on the front of one of the city’s Metrolink tram carriages, with feet dangerously placed on the link that binds the carriages.

The alarming photos taken outside Manchester College campus whipped up a storm online, with hundreds chiming in on social media—one anxious onlooker posted: “I hope the parents see this and give them what for. It doesn’t bear thinking about what would happen if one or both of them slipped off and went under.”

Another voiced disgust: “This actually angers me. Makes me feel physically sick.”

Meanwhile, Transport for Greater Manchester has acknowledged the ‘incredibly reckless’ act, confirming that the police had been notified, the Manchester Evening News. reports. Putting out a warning, Ian Davies, TfGM’s Network Director for Metrolink, said, “We are aware of this incident and are liaising with Greater Manchester Police.

“This type of behaviour is incredibly dangerous and reckless and could very easily result in death or very serious injury.

“We would urge people to stay safe and not be tempted into risking their lives in this way.”

Davies highlighted the vigilance of staff patrolling the network and encouraged the public to report any such incidents to either the police or Metrolink personnel.

Greater Manchester Police has yet to make a statement regarding the incident.
