This clever hack will leave your bathroom spotless without any effort, as long as you’re prepared to clean with a popular sauce everyone has in their kitchen

If your bathrooom sink is plagued by stubborn stains, fear not, as the cure might already be sitting in your cupboard. Tomato ketchup reportedly works brilliantly as a stain remover, according to a group of cleaning gurus – and they’ve got the results to prove it.

You might not associated tomato ketchup with cleaning. After all, it’s one of the most popular condiments out there. We all love pouring it over burgers, hot dogs and chip. Now, it turns out you can pour it over your bathroom sink too. Internet users were blown away after the back was shared in a popular Facebook group, according to Tyla. Ketchup is supposed to be the perfect product to use on stubborn stains including rust, calcium build-up and black scum stains.

People have shared the before and after pictures, which left Facebook users speechless. On the Mums Who Clean Facebook page, one user wrote: “Thanks to this group I learnt the tomato sauce around the tap trick. OMG it’s amazing mine was terrible. Left it overnight. I just put it all around the base, left it overnight and rinsed it off and cleaned as normal. It was perfect.”

Another commented: “Whoever came up with the tomato sauce tap hack, you’re a genius. Have tried everything, and nothing worked like this. No scrubbing, no effort. I’m blown away.” Ketchup could also help to clean the rust off metal appliances, according to another popular cleaning group. Mrs Hinch fans have previously raved about how well the red sauce can help to clean stainless steel bins.

Thankfully, there are plenty more solutions if you prefer to leave your ketchup on your plate. When you’re cleaning your bins, baby oil, lemon juice and Coca-Cola might do the trick. For your sinks, you can use this £1 trick as an alternative. Separately, a woman has gone viral after sharing a clever hack to get every single bit of ketchup out of your bottle. Casey Rieger has been inundated with comments after posting a video on Instagram demonstrating her unusual method. To date, she has racked up 52.7k views and 2.7k likes so far. So how does it work?

Casey can be seen holding the bottle by the bottom in one arm, which she swings quickly in a full circular motion, forcing gravity to move the ketchup up towards the lid. After just a few seconds, the extra sauce has shifted to the top and is ready to squirt to the plate.

Viewers were quick to comment on the post. One joked: “That’s why I found ketchup on my ceiling!” while a second shared: “I used to do that when I was a little kid. Then once the cap opened mid swing. Never again!” A third said: “Been doing that lots… I tell ya the look you get when you are at a fancy restaurant and you stand up to twirl a bottle of Heinz. Almost makes you feel like a celebrity!”
