Police have launched a rape investigation after a man was allegedly attacked in Birmingham. Two suspects, aged 29 and 52, were arrested and remain in police custody

A man was allegedly raped in Birmingham city centre as two people were arrested.

West Midlands Police rushed to Ladywell Walk in the city at around 7.45am this morning following reports that a man in his 20s had been attacked. Police said the suspects, aged 29 and 52, were held on suspicion of rape following the city centre incident.

They remain in police custody, the force said, as their investigation continues. Pictures taken in the city show a cordon near a doorway – and officers were today seen standing by the crime scene. Two police cars were spotted in the area this morning.

A police spokesman told Birmingham Live: “Two men aged 52 and 29 have been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident in Birmingham city centre. We were called to Ladywell Walk at around 7.45am this morning (31 August) to reports a man in his 20s had been attacked.

“The man is being supported by specialist officers. Our investigation is at an early stage and the two men arrested remain in custody.”
