Adam Muskett, 27, and Katie Worrell, 25, from Tenby, were killed in a collision on the A477 in Carmarthenshire – Alexander MacCallum has now pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving

A motorist has admitted responsibility for a fatal collision that claimed the lives of a young couple in west Wales.

Adam Muskett, 27, and Katie Worrell, 25, died in the crash on the A477 between Llanddowror and Red Roses in Carmarthenshire during the afternoon of June 13, 2024.

The pair, from Tenby, were driving along the road in a Ford Fiesta when their vehicle was struck by a Jaguar XKR driven by Alexander MacCallum. Emergency services, including police, fire crews, paramedics, and the Wales Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene, but Mr Muskett and Miss Worrell both succumbed to their injuries.

MacCallum, of Beach Road, Llanreath, Pembroke Dock, faced two charges of causing death by careless driving. On Monday, February 9, the 28 year old admitted both charges at a hearing held at Swansea Crown Court.

Judge Huw Rees heard that MacCallum “accepts responsibility for the offences” following his vehicle veering into the oncoming carriageway on the A477, which occurred due to a “momentary loss of control” amid poor weather conditions, reports Wales Online.

The court was informed that MacCallum had no prior convictions, and Judge Rees requested a pre-sentence report, informing the defendant that sentencing would take place on April 2.

MacCallum was also notified that he faces an immediate ban from driving until the sentencing hearing. Following the tragic accident, Mr Muskett’s family expressed: “Adam, our loving son, brother, grandson and nephew. He loved life, his friends, Tenby, football and Katie very much.

“How do we move on without you, your big kind heart and cheeky smile? We are heartbroken and forever proud.”

Miss Worrell’s family shared: “Katie was a much-loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin. She lived life to the full, loving to travel and achieving so much in such a short time, she graduated with a Masters and worked hard.

“She loved her friends and Adam beyond words. Katie was kind, caring and beautiful and our lives will never be the same without her.”
