A woman has shared her game changing trick to stop towels from going crispy after washing them – and said this hack will transform any towel making them fluffy again

There’s nothing nicer than getting out of the bath or shower and wrapping yourself up in a nice big fluffy towel. So it can be frustrating when you pull your towels out from the wash and they feel crispy and have lost their luxurious feel.

However one woman has revealed her genius trick which will ensure your towels come out soft to touch every single time – and it’s all thanks to a 35p item. Laura de Barra took to Instagram to share her laundry hack which she said will “change your life” and it’s never been easier to follow at home.

Hailing distilled white vinegar, the laundry pro said if your towels are grey and dull and “not drying like they used to” or they “have an odour” she urged people to stop using fabric softener on them when putting them in the washing machine. “I implore you to stop. Because these are the type of problems you’re going to get.”

With towels, you are “relying on them to be absorbent so they can dry you after a bath or shower”, Laura said, and noted: “When you use things like fabric softener or too much detergent, you are clogging up these fibres and overall you are getting a less absorbent fabric.”

The same applies to bed linen, and Laura said: “So if you want to do a reset of your towels, then you’re going to give them this treatment.”

Laura first urged people to not wash their towels in detergent and instead get a cup “of distilled white vinegar in the drum” and half a cup into the fabric softener section.

She then instructed: “You’re then going to wash them on a warm wash. If it’s dark I would wash them on maximum 30C and if it’s white you can afford to do 60C and let the vinegar work her acidic magic.

“They will come out soft and they will be able to absorb everything they need to,” she assured.

However Laura urged people to make sure it’s not cleaning vinegar, as cleaning vinegar is “too harsh for the machine and too harsh for the fibres” and instead opt for the vinegar you see in the food aisles.

People were loving Laura’s video, as one fan commented: “Since watching your videos I have completely stopped using fabric softener.

In my fabric softener compartment I put distilled vinegar with every wash. My washing machine smells clean, my clothes are still soft and smell fresh.”

Another chimed: “Thank you for sharing this information. I will be changing the way I do laundry. I appreciate the tips,” and a third said: “Vinegar was the game changer for me in terms of my laundry and towels.”
