A woman in her 40s tragically died at the scene, with two men arrested in connection with the incident – which left six other passengers in both vehicles injured
A woman has been killed and a nine-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after a crash between a limousine and a car.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was a passenger in the Mercedes and sadly died at the scene in Pytchley, near Kettering. Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, which left six other passengers in both vehicles injured. Another adult and three children who were travelling in the limousine and an adult and child passenger in the Citroen were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Police have arrested a 53-year-old man from Sandy, Bedfordshire, and a 22-year-old man from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and both remain in police custody.
Northamptonshire Police said the two vehicles – a black Mercedes 220E limousine and black Citroen DS3 – collided between Wellingborough Road and Broughton Road in Pytchley, shortly after 10pm on Tuesday. A force spokesperson said: “As a result of the collision, a woman in her 40s sadly died at the scene and a nine-year-old girl was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. Both were passengers in the Mercedes.
“Four other passengers from the Mercedes – an adult and three children – were taken to hospital for minor injuries along with two passengers – adult and child – from the Citroen. Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage that captured any part of the collision.”
