Cleaning enthusiasts were left both impressed and horrified after watching the ‘gross but satisfying’ hack to transform your dirty white socks back to their former glory in just three simple steps

Stop throwing your dirty socks away – there’s now a game-changing hack to get them looking ‘like new’ again.

White clothes are notoriously hard to keep stain-free and clean, and when it comes to socks, it’s an almost impossible feat… Puns aside, a cleaning expert has been hailed after showing off how she transformed her grimy socks back to their former glory in just three simple steps. Aussie Chantelle Barresi, who has amassed a whopping 46,900 followers on Instagram thanks to her handy cleaning and lifestyle tips, warns the results of making her ‘two-month-old sockaroonies white again’ is ‘gross but satisfying’.

“I don’t know what I do to my socks but why do they look like this, please?” the content creator said in a now-viral video. “I thought I would try this fancy little TikTok hack and bring these babies back to life.” Chantelle places her blackened socks into a bucket and adds two scoops of the Pink Stuff Oxi Powder Stain Remover before pouring boiling water over the garments and leaving them to soak for 20 minutes.

“If this isn’t a sign to clean your soaks, I don’t know what is,” she added, showing how the water had turned brown. Then, she pours the water out of the back, douses the socks in The Pink Stuff Oxi Remover Spray, and pops them in the wash with some detergent. Once the socks have dried – they’re all incredibly white.

Hundreds of impressed viewers flocked to the comments section to hail the hack. “Bless your cotton socks! I need this in my life,” one person raved. Another wrote: “I’ve never put quite this much time, effort and product into keeping my socks white before but I think it’s time to give it a go!”

A third added: “Gosh this stuff looks awesome. Eek I can’t believe the difference,” while a fourth penned: “Oh my God, this literally just saved my socks.” You can pick up a 1kg tub of the Pink Stuff Stain Remover Powder for whites for just £2.99, while the Pink Stuff Stain Remover Spray will only set you back £1.34 from The Range.
