West Midlands Police share video of man wanted in connection with distraction robbery

Footage has been released of a man police urgently want to speak to after an 88-year-old woman was left seriously injured during a “violent burglary”.

A man tricked his way into the home of the elderly woman in Erdington, in the West Midlands, and she was attacked by the intruder. The victim remains in hospital and is in a serious condition, said West Midlands Police.

The force said the woman has been targeted by a man posing as a council official or an employee for a water company, stating that he needs to check their taps. It is the latest in a string of similar incidents where an imposter has tricked his way into properties in Birmingham, Sandwell and Solihull.

It said: “We are continuing to appeal for your help to track down this man.
