A 21-year-old woman died and another was injured after being hit by a car outside a shopping centre in Sutton Coldfield – two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

Police have arrested two men after a 21-year-old woman died and another was injured after being hit by a car outside a shopping centre.

The incident unfolded outside Gracechurch Shopping Centre in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands last night. Police rushed to the scene after recieving reports of a car hitting two pedestrians.

One of the pedestrians, a 21-year-old woman, died from her injuries at the scene, while another woman was treated for a leg injury which is not thought to be life-threatening.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They remained in custody today as police continued their enquiries. Detectives are now calling for anyone who was driving in the area at the time, or who may have dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from West Midlands Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died at this time.

“We are continuing our enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who was driving near the scene or in the streets nearby before or after the collision happened.

“Any dashcam or doorbell footage you have would really help our investigation.”
