West Midlands Police are appealing for information after three ladies were shot in Wolverhampton. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Frederick Street near St John’s Retail Park

Three woman have been left wounded after they were shot in a frightening drive by-attack in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Police were called to reports of “shots being fired from a car” on Frederick Street in Wolverhampton at around 11pm on Friday. Emergency services rushed to the scene and took three women to hospital. Police have launched an appeal after the attacker fled the scene. The incident took place close to St John’s Retail Park.

The force has since confirmed that two of the victims have been discharged from hospital. Police presence has been increased in the area following the incident.

West Midlands police said in a statement: “We received reports of shots being fired from a car on Frederick Street at around 11pm. Three women were taken to hospital. Two women have since been discharged. A third woman remains in hospital in a stable condition.

“We are carrying out a CCTV trawl- and other enquiries – to identify those involved. We’re working to establish why this happened and we’d ask anyone with information to speak to us. Such violence is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated. We will have an increased presence in the area to reassure the local community.”
