Cat Deeley addresses Strictly Come Dancing rumours with Anton Du Beke

If you’ve been keeping an eye on This Morning lately, you’ll notice there’s one hero piece that appears regularly in Cat Deeley’s wardrobe – a waistcoat. The presenter has been spotted wearing several different versions of the versatile piece over the last few weeks, from longline, relaxed fits to more tailored, cropped iterations.

Her newest waistcoat of the week was worn during the show on Monday 22 April, when Cat donned Sosander’s Asymmetric Waistcoat, £49 here, to interview Strictly star Anton Du Beke. Cat completed the look with the matching Sosander Wide Leg Trousers, £55 here, for a sleek put together look that was both laid back and smart – a difficult combo to nail.

Cat’s waistcoat comes in a trending neutral colour with a contrasting tortoiseshell-style single button fastening. Although its colour palette is relatively low key, the layering piece is far from basic thanks to its asymmetric design.

It has a wrap-over style front which fastens off to one side, and an angular uneven hemline which is shorter at one side and longer at the other. It also has tailored seaming down the front which creates a chic, fitted silhouette that flatters your figure and accentuates your waist.

The statement-making waistcoat might err on the formal side of things, but it’s also incredibly easy to style, making it a great versatile option to add to your wardrobe. You can copy Cat’s top-to-toe look by pairing it with the matching trousers and a heel, or go all out by pairing it with the co-ordinating Single Breasted Blazer, £85 here, for more formal situations.

You can also keep it casual by wearing the waistcoat on its own with a pair of wide-leg jeans and some trainers or layer it over a simple white T-shirt and some denim shorts for a look that screams 00s Kate Moss at Glastonbury look. Statement jewellery will help finish off any of the potential outfits, and the neutral colour palette means you can let your accessories do the talking.

Currently, several of the waistcoat’s sizes are sold out on Very (thanks Cat!), but you can also head over to the Sosander website where you’ll be able to cop a few more size ranges before they sell out. However, if you’ve been unlucky enough to miss out on your size at the moment, you can still shop several of Cat’s other chic waistcoats, including her longline Hopsack Tatton Waistcoat, £220 here, from Jigsaw.

She also recently wore the Ivory Eden Satin Waistcoat, £89 here, from Ghost with the matching Nancy Wide Leg Satin Trousers, £145 here. We knew waistcoats were making a comeback, but if you needed any more persuading just keep your eyes on Cat’s This Morning wardrobe – it’s definitely convinced us!
