Everything you need to know about Alireza Askari’s twisted cover-up after murdering wife as he’s jailed for life:

  1. Monster Alireza Askari, 42, has been jailed for life after murdering his wife Paria Veisi, 37, and burying her body in a makeshift grave in their Cardiff home.
  2. The twisted killer stabbed hairdresser Paria four times before burying her under patio slabs and freshly planted flowers at their former home in April 2025. Cardiff Crown Court heard the couple had recently separated and Paria had moved into her own flat just two weeks before her death.
  3. In a sick bid to cover his tracks, Askari impersonated his dead wife by texting her boss from her phone, claiming she was returning to Iran for “medical” reasons. He also moved Paria’s car to make it look like she had left the property.
  4. Paria was reported missing by a concerned friend who feared she was “being kept against her will by her ex-husband.” South Wales Police arrested Askari on April 15 as he travelled from Birmingham to Cardiff, finding canisters of caustic soda in his car.
  5. Judge Mrs Justice Stacey said Askari would “clearly rather kill her than (she) leave him,” adding: “In April, 2025, there was excitement for Paria, she was just starting a new life free of you, enjoying life in her new flat with her future to look forward to, free of fear from you.”
  6. Paria, who moved to the UK from Iran in 2010, suffered fatal injuries to her chest and neck. The judge described CCTV footage showing “a strong, confident, attractive woman with her new future ahead of her” just days before her murder.
  7. Askari’s aunt Maryam Delavary, 48, was also jailed for five years and six months after admitting perverting the course of justice by helping cover up the murder.
