Hundreds of police officers have rushed to Westminster in central London, with Westminster Bridge closed in both directions as they respond to an “emergency incident”.

Images taken from the scene appear to show at least four police cars and three Transport for London ‘Incident Response’ vans flooding either side of the bridge. Witnesses on scene say “hundreds” of cops have descended on the bridge and that a cordon has been put in place.

One passerby took to X posting: “Westminster Bridge closed in both directions. Hundreds of Police at the scene with the Bridge cordoned off. What’s going on?”
