Tesco is offering Clubcard deals on Baileys this Christmas, but experts have shared a crucial warning about the festive drink
Tesco has revealed some intriguing information that might just sway your gift-giving this festive season, as one product emerged as a favourite. The supermarket has something special for the Baileys enthusiasts in your life this Christmas.
According to last year’s Tesco’s Christmas Trends Report, the delicious drink was a top pick for host gifts during the festive period and ranked second as the most popular gift for friends and family. This season is the perfect time to stock up on Baileys, a holiday essential that also works wonderfully in seasonal recipes such as Festive Eton Mess or an Irish Cream Chocolate Yule Log.
To make it even more convenient, Tesco is currently offering 1L bottles of Baileys at one of the lowest prices around. From now until Christmas Eve, Clubcard holders can snap up a litre bottle for £14, saving £8.50.
Tesco’s Christmas delivery slots are also now available, and you can have the offer delivered straight to your door if you order by December 24.
In fact, deals extend across many drinks within the popular Bailey’s range, including the crowd-pleaser Bailey’s Terry’s Chocolate Orange, priced at £11 with a Tesco ClubCard, compared to its usual price of £17.
Alongside this, customers can also pick up a Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur bottle for £11, saving a substantial £6 on a single bottle, reports the Express.
While Baileys remains a festive staple in countless homes, those tackling the post-Christmas tidy-up could be making a simple yet expensive blunder.
Plumbers have heeded a warning for households enjoying Baileys over the festive period – don’t pour any of this drink down your sink when you’re clearing away.
Once the celebrations wind down, it’s tempting to tip leftover booze straight down the plughole, but tradespeople at MyBuilder.com have issued a stern warning about Baileys and similar cream liqueurs.
The experts caution that pouring these drinks down your drain can trigger nasty blockages, urging people to treat them like cooking fat when it comes to disposal.
“Cream liqueur drinks, such as the popular Christmas favourite, Baileys, can be a problem for your plumbing at Christmas. While it may be delicious to drink, it doesn’t keep for long and often ends up down the sink,” a MyBuilder spokesperson previously warned.
They added: “This sort of beverage should never be disposed of in this way. Cream liqueurs have a large fat content and as such fall into the category of FOG (Fats, Oils, and Greases). FOG should never go down the sink, as it sticks to pipes and can cause blockages. It’s also responsible for ‘fatbergs’ in our sewers.”
However, if you’re stuck for a present idea this festive season, Baileys is a safe bet – Tesco even dubs it “the most popular Irish cream liqueur around the globe”. People love its smooth, creamy consistency, whether they’re sipping it neat, drizzling it generously over ice cream, or jazzing up their Christmas coffee with a cheeky splash.
