Crisp giant Walkers has got fans talking with its latest flavour that’s a blast from the past
Walkers has revived two flavours of crisps – with a mixed response.
The popular brand, best known for big sellers such as cheese and onion and salt and vinegar, has brought back two varieties that were apparently discontinued two decades ago.
Shoppers have spotted the Chilli and Cocoa Sensations, alongside its Slow-Roasted Lamb and Mini Sauce flavour. Both are being billed as limited edition only.
Walkers’ Chilli and Cocoa flavour is described as until Easter only on the website of online supermarket Ocado, which describes the crisps as made as a “satisfying chili heat balanced with the sweetness of cocoa makes every bite unforgettable.”
Similarly, the Lamb and Mint Sauce crisps also appear to be sticking around just for the Easter period, with the goods outlined as “snacks with rich fragrant aroma of slow roasted lamb balanced with tangy mint sauce.”
The crisps can currently be picked up as a 150g pack for £1.75 at Ocado, while shoppers have reported also seeing them in Home Bargains.
A customer at Home Bargains snapped a picture of their Chilli and Cocoa find on Facebook group Newfoodsuk.
The caption read: “New Chilli & Cocoa Walkers Sensations Crisps from Home Bargains. These just work so well, very nice indeed!”
There have since been dozens of responses to the crisps, with a mixed bag of opinions on the matter.
One unhappy customer wrote: “Not as good as back when Walkers did these. The pack I have just tastes like chocolate and no chilli.”
Another added: “So they discontinued Snaps after 40 odd years and bring back these disgusting (for me) flavours? Lol.”
But Walkers Lamb & Mint flavour received rave reviews on Ocado’s website.
One shopper wrote: “They taste exactly the same as the release from the early 00s. It doesn’t taste overpoweringly minty that you might think.”
Another said: “Never tasted crisps so close to the actual flavour.
“Tastes and smells EXACTLY like the flavour. Will be a regular purchase for my husband (he is hoping these aren’t just limited addition).”
A third wrote: “Picked up on intro offer thinking they cant possibly be good, expecting generic meat crisps… taste almost exactly like lamb and mint and are pretty delicious. Try them, blame me.”
