Virgin Media is offering new customers a free Ultra HD smart TV or £125 bill credit if they ditch Sky, BT or TalkTalk, but the deal isn’t around for long.
Virgin Media is giving away free smart TVs in a 10-day flash sale. On Monday (May 18), the provider launched its latest giveaway where customers can get their hands on a free £250 LG Smart TV.
It’s available when signing up for one of four Virgin TV and broadband packages, each of which comes with hundreds of channels, free Netflix and the option to include Sky Sports and Cinema coverage. These are Virgin’s Cinema, Sports, Cinema + Sports or Max Volt packages.
After taking advantage of the deal, customers can choose to receive a 43” LG Ultra HD smart TV worth £249.99, or a £125 bill credit, with the latter effectively providing weeks of free service. However, time is already ticking as customers must claim the deal by 11.59 pm on Wednesday, May 27.
Each of Virgin’s eligible TV packages comes with more than 200 TV channels and a free Netflix subscription, while the £44.99 Cinema bundle also comes with full Sky Cinema access and 362Mbps fibre broadband. Football, Formula 1 and rugby fans may prefer the £54.99 Sport bundle, which replaces Sky Cinema with full Sky Sports coverage.
Customers can also combine both packages with the £64.99 Sport + Cinema bundle, which also boosts the broadband speed to 512Mbps. However, Virgin’s all singing and dancing option is the £76.99 Max Volt bundle, which comes with more than 230 TV channels, including both Sky Cinema and Sky Sports, plus Netflix, 1,130Mbps broadband and an unlimited O2 SIM.

Virgin Media is giving away a free 43″ LG smart TV or £125 bill credit when customers switch to one of its Cinema, Sports, Cinema + Sports or Max Volt TV bundles.
Virgin has also adopted the new One Touch Switch scheme, which means new customers don’t have to contact their current provider to get the ball rolling. Instead, Virgin will act on their behalf and speak to the other brand to process the switch.
A caveat is that Virgin’s monthly prices will increase by £4 each April, so customers should take that into account when committing to one of the 24-month contracts. It comes as Sky launches a rival sale ahead of the World Cup, which sees its Glass smart TVs reduced to as low as £4.50 (was £6) per month.
This lower price is for the slimmer model, the Sky Glass Air, while the more powerful Sky Glass Gen 2 now starts at £11 (was £14). Elsewhere, Amazon has unveiled its rebranded Fire TV range, along with a brand-new model, the Ember Artline, that’s up to £320 off and designed to rival Samsung’s The Frame TV.
As for Virgin Media, customers have left thousands of glowing reviews for the brand after signing up for its TV and broadband packages. Positive reviews heap particular praise on Virgin’s ‘blisteringly fast’ broadband speeds and ‘great value’.
One person said: “What an excellent experience from initial ordering to installation. Speeds are blisteringly fast, and signals are strong throughout the house. The TV package we chose will do us nicely, its operation being slick and intuitive. Excellent in all respects and great value for money.”
Another said: “From the outset, we have found our experience with Virgin to be perfect. When the engineers came out, they were both friendly and helpful and made the changeover as seamless as they possibly could.”
This customer appeared happy overall, but deducted a star from their review due to issues with their registration. They said: “Overall, pretty smooth joining with the One Touch Switch process. There were some issues with the registration customer journey, with multiple emails telling me to sign up for a Virgin account before it was active, giving errors telling me my details couldn’t be found.”
Meanwhile, another Virgin Media customer said switching was the ‘best thing I’ve done’. They said: “Best thing I’ve done. Controls are easy to use, and I love voice control. I’m impressed with the number of channels, the speed of my broadband and best of all, the price.”
