Vicky Pattison let husband Ercan Ramadan pick an outfit at Marks & Spencer and he wowed her with a stylish trench coat that she says is the ‘perfect transitional’ piece for spring

Letting your other half pick your outfit might not be something we’d all be willing to do, but that’s exactly what Vicky Pattison did when she let husband Ercan Ramadan pick her a new spring outfit from Marks & Spencer. The couple decided to style each other with some of M&S ’ latest launches, and Vicky was pleasantly surprised by what he chose.

Ercan picked out The Trench and Vicky was delighted with his pick, saying: “This trench is the perfect transitional piece for spring! I haven’t had it off since I got it!” Needless to say the trench coat was a hit with her fans too, who praised Ercan’s choice on her Instagram stories.

A trench coat is a timeless pick to keep in your wardrobe, and M&S’ £95 The Trench is a prime example of a classic design that’ll never go out of style. It features a double-breasted design with a check lining for some heritage inspired details.

It’s made from 100% cotton twill with M&S’ Stormwear technology to keep it shower resistant – perfect for those unexpected spring rainy spells. The rear storm flap gives you some extra protection when the weather changes, and there’s even a handy internal chest pocket to keep things safe and sound.

The Trench has been designed with a removable waist belt with a faux leather buckle to keep the silhouette flattering and adaptable. The mock horn buttons also keep it classic. Although you can pick it up in the traditional light camel colour, it also comes in black, and is available in petite and regular lengths with sizes six to 24.

There are some other great options around too, including Superdry’s Classic Trench Coat which is £99.99 and comes in beige or navy colourways. For something a little different, the Camel Check Trim Trench Coat from Nobody’s Child has check details on the lapels and is now on sale down from £169 to £135.20.

If you need something a little more budget-friendly, the ASOS DESIGN Longline Water Repellent Trench Coat is now just £58 down from £68 and comes in four different colours. It has fewer details compared to the M&S version, but is a great option that still looks timeless and classic.

However if you want to copy Vicky’s exact look, The Trench has been highly praised by M&S shoppers who’ve given it a 4.7 rating. One called it the “Perfect trench coat” and added: “Great quality and style. I would Highly recommend.”

Another wrote: “Love this coat. Such good quality at a great price. I’m 5’9, regular perfect length, arms a little short, but I have long arms! Perfect for spring – highly recommend.”

One did say, however: “Even though I sized down, this still runs big and doesn’t quite sit right. Would serve purpose but not very fashionable.”

But others loved the design, saying: “I have always wanted a M&S trench coat and finally I bought one! It is such great quality, beautifully designed, very chic and makes me feel rather French cool!”
