The Amazon product has been banned from sale due to fire and explosion risks – here’s everything you need to know.

A common bathroom electrical device found in many households has been banned from sale due to fire and explosion risks. The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a safety warning aboutthe product, which has been rejected at the border.

Manufactured in China, the Electric Toothbrush Charger, WY-3757 is sold through Amazon but fails to comply with UK safety standards. It’s described as a white toothbrush charger featuring a wall plug designed for British sockets. The Amazon product codes are X002A68Z4D and FBA15KTM0VDKU000003, reports the Express.

The experts warned: “The product presents a high risk of fire as the plug fuse does not conform to the dimensional requirements of BS 1362. It is too small and as such cannot function properly.

“If there is a surge in the current or a fault with the product, the plug could catch fire and/or explode. Improvements are also required to product labelling, instructions and marking.

“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.”

The Office for Product Safety and Standards is there to help protect pepole and homes from product-related dangers, enabling consumers and retailers to purchase and sell items safely.

In recent days, numerous products stocked in British shops have been pulled from shelves due to safety concerns.

For instance, the Hobbycraft Giant Box of Craft has been withdrawn due to health risks as the sand vials contained within the kit may contain trace amounts of asbestos.

The OPSS said: “We recommend owners stop using this product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children. Follow the below instructions for details on disposal and return of the product.”

A popular shampoo and conditioner and two fragrances have also been recalled in recent weeks owing to potential health hazards they could pose.
