Many popular items have been pulled from shelves this week – full list of affected products.
Several popular products have been recalled from customers this week, and many were told to stop using them “immediately”. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) issued product recall notices, warning anyone with the items about the dangers.
This week, popular sun creams, prescription medicines and power banks were among the products recalled. A range of reasons were given for the recalls, including incorrect packaging labels, banned ingredients and fire risks.
The OPSS has laid out advice for anyone who has the items, as in many cases, they urge people to stop using the products straight away and contact the retailer for a refund. Here’s a round-up of items recalled this week.
Bondi Sands sun cream
Two Bondi Sands SPF products have been recalled, with consumers urged to stop using them immediately. The OPSS said: “The product presents a risk to health because certain batches have shown signs of separation and uneven texture.
“If the ingredients are not properly mixed, the SPF rating may be variable and place consumers at risk of sunburn.”

TK Maxx power bank
TK Maxx has recalled the XO Poppy Super Power 10,000 mAh Power Bank. It is described as an electrical charger with swan, leopard, and bow prints.
The recall is for models PY-UKPBK10M-BW8, PY-UKPBK10M-LP1 and PY-UKPBK10M-SW3. They also have the receipt and price ticket codes 014851, 014852, and 014853.
The OPSS said: “The product presents a risk of fire as it has poor internal build quality, with wires soldered directly to the PCB with no secondary form of fixing.
“This could lead to the connections becoming loose over time, causing the product to overheat and ignite, leading to a fire. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation 2005.”
Bridal henna
Hania Bridal Henna Paste has been withdrawn from the market by Angel Fashion. The OPSS said: “The product presents a serious chemical risk due to the presence of phenol.”
Phenol is a banned ingredient in cosmetic products. The affected item is a green foil ‘cone’ of henna used for temporary tattooing.
“Phenol is also toxic if swallowed,” the OPSS said. “Improvements are also required to product labelling and information. The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.”
High blood pressure tablets
Drug manufacturer Crescent Pharma Limited issued a recall of prescription blood pressure medication after a pack was mistakenly filled with the wrong medication.
The batch should have contained Ramipril 5mg capsules, but was instead filled with Amlodipine 5mg tablets. Customers who have bought the affected batch are being urged to stop taking them immediately.
The affected product batch is Ramipril 5mg Capsules, batch GR164099.
Beauty cream
Glow & Lovely Hydraglow Rose Enrich Serum Cream poses a chemical risk due to incorrect ingredient listings and failure to specify fragrance allergens. As a result, Lajawab Foods Limited has withdrawn the product from sale.
The product is described as a skin cream packaged in a pink-and-white cardboard box and weighing 50g. It has the barcode 8961014255669.
