A fascinating new concept map of the UK’s first ever Universal Studios theme park has been released – with six hidden details sure to be a hit with thrill seekers across the globe.
The highly anticipated attraction is set to be the first of its kind on British soil, with a host of immersive experiences – from thrilling roller coasters to iconic movie-themed areas. Fans can expect to walk through landscapes inspired by Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, and other Universal blockbusters, all crammed into one action-packed destination. The new theme park, located in Bedfordshire, will bring an estimated £50bn boost for the UK economy and create around 28,000 jobs in total across creative, hospitality and construction industries. Set to open in 2031, the theme park will form part of a new planned entertainment resort expected to draw visitors from around the world.
Mark Woodbury, Chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, said: “Bringing a world-class theme park and resort to the United Kingdom is a tremendous opportunity and is part of our strategy to introduce the Universal brand and experiences to new audiences around the globe.
“We appreciate the incredible support for our proposed project and look forward to bringing it to life in the years ahead.”
The Prime Minister announced an agreement has been reached with Universal and Befordshire Council for the 476-acre entertainment resort complex, complete with a 500-room hotel today.
Nearly 20,000 jobs will be created during the six-year construction period, with a further 8,000 new jobs across the hospitality and creative industries when it opens in 2031.
Here are six amazing hidden details in the park’s new map, including an apparent live volcano and immersive performance stage.
Live ‘volcano’
A jaw-dropping live volcano simulation looks set to be one of the park’s most impressive features. Towering over the entire landscape, the new map appears to show the fake volcano erupting in dramatic bursts of steam and “lava”, creating an unforgettable spectacle for all visitors.
On-site hotel
Those wanting to go the extra mile can rest at a luxury on-site hotel. Designed in soft pastel pink hues, the large hotel will likely offer guests a peaceful retreat after a long day of thrills – allowing them to unwind in their plush rooms, sip cocktails by the pool, or enjoy exclusive park perks. It would be the ideal place for families, couples, or anyone looking to indulge in some luxury just steps away from all the action.
Rollercoaster on water
A massive rollercoaster will dominate the landscape, stretching across almost half the entire park. The thrilling coaster – which is just one of three separate coasters – will twist, turn and even soar above water, giving thrill seekers the opportunity to race over the parks glistening central lake. With breathtaking drops and high-speed loops, the coaster looks set to be another highlight of the park.
Endless shopping
The theme park isn’t just about heart-stopping rides and blockbuster attractions – it also appears to be a shopping paradise. The park is expected to offer a vast array of stores that sell goods catered to all of its visitors, from Universal merchandise and souvenirs, to one-of-a-kind movie memorabilia and trendy fashion items inspired by your favourite films.
The perfect selfie spot
The iconic Universal logo, featuring the Earth surrounded by the famous globe, will be the perfect selfie spot at the new UK theme park. Strategically placed at the heart of the park, this stunning, larger-than-life design offers the ultimate backdrop for a photo that screams Hollywood glamour.
Performance stage
A state-of-the-art performance stage is one of the many features dotted around the park. Like other Universal Studio destinations, it is set to deliver unforgettable live shows throughout the day. Visitors can expect dazzling musical performances, breathtaking stunt spectacles, or immersive theatrical experiences with cutting-edge sound, lighting, and special effects.
