Glasgow-based Simply Florida Travel Ltd specialised in holidays to America including Disney World and Universal Studios – all planned trips have now been cancelled

A major UK travel firm has ceased operations – with all planned trips now cancelled.

Holiday packages reserved through Simply Florida Travel Ltd have been cancelled after the company stopped trading and its website was shut down.

The Glasgow-based agency provided holiday packages to destinations including Disneyland, Disney World, Universal Studios, New York City, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Miami and various cruises. Companies House records reveal the independent operator requested to be struck off the register on October 13 2025. It was formally dissolved on January 6 and stopped trading as an Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing scheme-protected provider on January 20.

The Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing scheme (ATOL) is a UK consumer protection programme run by the Civil Aviation Authority. It safeguards customers who reserve package holidays or flights with registered travel firms if the company collapses.

Several other British travel companies have collapsed in recent months, including Regen Central Ltd, Gold Crest Holidays, Great Little Escapes, Jetline Travel and Asiara UK Ltd.

It comes after a British fish and chip shop giant that had been under threat after going into administration was saved.

Founded in 1865, Henry Nuttall has been supplying the UK’s favourite chippies with equipment for 161 years. The firm sadly entered administration in February following financial difficulties and the death of its owner.

The future of the company, which describes itself as the ‘original frying range manufacturer in the world’, has now been secured.

It was acquired for an undisclosed figure by HN Ranges, through the RGM Leeds group. And what’s more, all 11 jobs were saved too. It is hoped the “added long-term investment” will secure the future of the business.

Henry Nuttall first began trading from a small backstreet shop in Rochdale. Post-war, the company grew and grew with new chip shops across the area often using Nuttall’s range.

In the late 1930s, the business moved to Castle Works in Holmes Street in Rochdale as it continued to thrive. Nowadays the company has a manufacturing factory in Dinnington, Sheffield.
