WXCharts weather maps show a 742-mile snow blizzard is likely to blast the UK next week leaving several towns and cities buried under wintry conditions from Wick to Plymouth
A 742-mile snow blizzard is set to batter the UK next week, leaving numerous towns and cities blanketed under wintry conditions.
WXCharts weather maps have turned white across areas stretching from Wick in Scotland right down to Plymouth in England, suggesting the likelihood of snowy conditions on March 27.
The freezing weather maps emerge just days after Britain enjoyed a taste of milder weather, with some regions seeing highs of 19C earlier this week. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Gogerddan in west Wales reached 20.9C.

However, according to fresh weather maps, there will be an abrupt change in conditions next week as an Atlantic storm appears poised to sweep across parts of Scotland, Wales and England. Scottish regions will bear the brunt of the heaviest snow, with the possibility of 13cm per hour near the Highlands, the maps have indicated.
The snowy weather will also blanket major English cities including Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Swansea, London and Plymouth, with 1-2cm of snow falling in these areas per hour.
The Met Office’s long-range forecast from March 24 until April 2 reads: “Changeable and at times unsettled conditions for many parts of the UK at the start of this period, as areas of low pressure and their associated frontal zones run close to or over the UK.
“These are likely to be most active in the north and somewhat weaker further south, closer to a ridge of high pressure extending northeast from the subtropical Atlantic,” reports the Express.
“There is also potential for a period of widely windy weather during the first part of this period. By the turn of the month high pressure may become rather more dominant once again with plenty of dry weather, but with some overnight fog and frost.”
