OIl prices have topped a four year high of $100 a barrel as uncertainty over the impact of the Middle East conflict carries on

As petrol prices rise across the UK amid fears that the Iran war will lead to a spike in fuel costs, a new interactive map has broken down average prices per area and also highlighted the cheapest place to fill up near you.

The cost of crude oil rose to over $100 a barrel today as the US and Israeli bombardment of Iran continued to spook global markets. The average price of petrol on UK forecourts has now reached 137p – an increase of nearly 6p a litre since the conflict began nine days ago.

But experts have warned that British motorists can expect further price increases if the price of crude oil stays high. The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit said the historic link between oil and fuel prices shows oil trading at 100 dollars a barrel for a prolonged period means petrol prices could hit about 150p per litre, while oil hitting $120 a barrel would result in UK petrol prices of about 170p per litre.
